And The Mountains Echoed – Khaled Hosseini

The Book Reporter, our in-house guide to what makes for an interesting read, reviews Hosseini's latest bestseller, And the Mountains Echoed.    Khaled Hosseini is a brilliant author. I was hooked from the first few pages. His characterization is vivid and his storytelling skills are par excellence!! This is a story of love and how it has the power to affect lives over many generations. It teaches us deep gratitude for the simplest things we have. Hosseini has this ability to tell stories like none other. For days after reading this I had the characters in my mind.    Yes Afghani references are many, but not as heart wrenching as his other books. If you've liked his previous work you're sure to love this!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.   Leaving you with a beautiful quote from the book:    “They say, find a purpose in your life and live it. But, sometimes, it is only after you have lived that you recognize your life had a purpose, and likely one you never had in...

Club Rhino

Club Rhino is as the name suggests rare and impressive. Situated atop South point mall this rocking pub/restaurant was our venue for Ladies night. The high ceilings as you enter give you an otherworldly feel. The option of outside seating complete with mist fans is viable especially in the winter months. The bar is riveting.. It’s a long area which grabs your attention. In this rocking ambience we are led to a comfortable table with sofas. We have an extremely attentive bar man who ensures our drinks are refilled asap. So here are the cocktails we tried : Damn you Freak Cosmopolitan Lemon & Orange Mojito Screwdriver Caprioska The Cosmopolitan : was perfectly chilled and had a delicate balance of tangy and sweet. Damn you Freak : No no I’m not being politically incorrect here ! This is the name of a cocktail which had an excellent combination of vodka and fresh fruit juices. Lemon and Orange Mojito : As the name suggests this citrusy combination was a delight for the palate. Packed with the punch of both lemon and orange juice this cocktail is just perfect for a summer evening. Caprioska : Again a crisp and light yet striking in taste. The Screwdriver : This drink is as classic as it gets and club Rhino delivered a smash hit. The readability of the menu in the subtle lighting is...

Mom’s take on Spoonful of Soul

Spoonful of Soul is a quaint yet niche restaurant tucked away in Nathupur.SOS is International. In its look, its food and certainly in its service. GurgaonMoms had the pleasure to review this restaurant co owned by Anuradha  Khanna  and Rohit Sodhi .These siblings share a common passion for food and have taken fine dining to another level. The SOS experience begins when you board an exclusive glass elevator which opens out into the restaurant. Bright and serene are your first thoughts as you enter this well lit area with pristine white walls and pops of colour in its accents. At the entrance is a causal lounge where one could cozy up for a coffee. Then the restaurant takes over with a chic bar. Mentionable is the SOS wall of Gourmettiti.. my word for Gourmet graffiti.. Proof of satisfied customers. What sets SOS apart is the diversity in its menu. There is an ample selection for dieters no compromise on the taste. The salads are not dressed to disguise and they use ingredients that are good for you. Makes it a good venue for kitty parties. The wait staff leads us to a table and offers us regular or mineral water. Even the coloured glass bottles for water are pretty. As soon as we are seated we are served the most gorgeous butter drenched garlic bread. Crisp yet light. A very thoughtful touch as the...
