It was on a balmy October evening of 2003 that I first watched Born Wild on NDTV — a show that allowed you to get up close and personal with the people from across India working towards the conservation of endangered species. What was appealing was the engaging narrative spun together by two young reporters, Swati Thiyagarajan and Gargi Rawat. In this particular episode, I watched spellbound as Thiyagarajan accompanied the Irula tribe, which lives in the deep recesses of the Nilgiris, on a cobra tracking mission. Through the years, Born Wild presented several such memorable episodes, allowing you...Read More

The renowned Anuja Chauhan’s book launch took place on May 19, 2017, and was organized by Gurgaon Moms. She discussed her newly published and amazingly successful book, Baaz. During the interview, various ideas explored in the novel were discussed, including pacifism and humanity over nationalism. Further, we learned about the contrasting ideologies of the two main characters of romantic interest – Tinka and Shaanu. Shaanu has a more shallow, live-in-the-moment, thrill-seeking personality, whereas Tinka takes a more humanitarian, pacifistic approach on life. The author went on to share how every book she had written revolved around a prominent, female...Read More
I’ve always enjoyed Anuja Chauhan’s exceptionally fluid style of writing. As you read you feel like a really close friend of yours is telling you a story. Baaz ( meaning a falcon in Hindi ) is the story of a young boy: Ishaan Faujdaar from the hinterland of Haryana. Set against the 1971 war this book has nuggets of nostalgia for us 80’s kids. Her accounts of the war are all too real and recount takes from a pilot as well as civilians view. One instance of nostalgia is when Anuja re creates the famous Liril soap advertisement in...Read More
On a blisteringly hot May morning, the weather Gods decided to shower us heat stricken Gurgaon folks with kindness. The rain came gently but surely, cleansing the dust away, leaving a cool breeze in its wake. But, that was not all! The air was rife with excitement as everyone was looking forward to meeting a writer who had managed to make a place in our hearts with her heart – warming, witty stories about characters who were quirky and mad and intelligent, all at the same time! As Ms. Anuja Chauhan strode into Takamaka to talk about her newly...Read More
Two Dynamic Speakers in one GurgaonMoms Event : As a friend and I walked in apprehensively to the venue wondering what was in store at this GurgaonMoms event, the warm sunlight in the open terrace of the Nowhere café greeted us. The Gurgaon skyline along with the vibrant colours on the ladies who’d reached ahead of time to win the early bird books added to the excitement in the air that usually accompanies a book launch in this group of avid readers. The ever so warm Upasana M. Luthra, co-admin GurgaonMoms Book Club was there to greet us and...Read More
When the cover photo of GurgaonMom’s Book Club changed to Sonali Bendre’s book launch banner, I immediately checked the banner for details. Reading further I was determined that this will not be one of the events that I will show interest in and never attend due to a full time job, managing a child and, lack of time. After all the book was on parenting, the other reasons why I wanted to go was to meet up moms from this wonderful community called GurgaonMoms. I have always heard them, seen their pictures often but never got a chance to...Read More
