Members of GurgaonMoms were invited by Mrs.Bubble Batra and her team at One and Only. One and Only is a n exclusive furniture show room located on Gurgaon Manesar Road (717 Conclave, Kherki Daula, (Next to Haldiram), National Highway 8  Gurgaon, Haryana 122001) Upon our arrival we were greeted with welcome drinks. The showroom is filled with grand and magnificent furniture. The furniture is also displayed room wise so the client can have a fair idea of what pieces go together. We were given a tour and then we proceeded to a demonstration. Ms.Diya the showroom manager also doubles up as a chef and proceeded to bake a cake for us. As the demonstration commenced Ms.Bubble started a game called “ Don’t say No” .The ladies were each given 5 cards in a heart shape . Every time you caught someone saying No you had to ask for a card! The game went on with much hilarity and led to many laughs. Makes one realize how often we use the N word! After the cake was put into the oven to bake we were given a small informative talk on Interiors. She showed us various semi –precious stones used for inlays. She also showed us a range of metallic leafing .Wood finishes and Ducos were also displayed. She then showed us diverse new polishes with a shaded and antique finish. To...

Surajkund Mela 2013

Start Date: Friday, 1 February 2013             End Date: Friday, 15 February 2013 Venue: Faridabad, Haryana                         How to reach the MELA The Surajkund mela is an apt showcase for the extensive variety of Indian Arts and Crafts. A traffic free and lovely road leads you to the mela ( parking options are across the road) . We did see some cars parked inside the compound but I suspect they had passes! Wear your sturdier walking shoes! Especially after the rains anticipate undulating terrain. This years theme state is Karnataka and this is evident in the colourful decorations at the entrance. All possible handicrafts from Karnataka are available here. Ranging from sandalwood agarbattis to pure silk saris.A must see for kids are the lovely handcrafted wooden toys. Phulkari kurta pieces are on sale in plenty.. I would recommend some bargaining and purchasing from the more interior stalls. Kashmiri shawls, Luckowi kurtas, handmade glass jewelry are all on display and sale. Do try and catch the colourful dances and processions. Not to be missed are the SAARC countries stalls. Here one can buy Pakistani kurtas, Afghani shawls and earrings, Bhutanese handicrafts and Sinhalese ( Sri Lankan) Batik and showpieces. The Thailand stall has lots of attractive hair ornaments and hand bags. There are many food stalls to eat...
