It’s the latest kid on the block by Westin… a wonderful rooftop bar lounge and restaurant with a lovely 360 degree view of the city. If you are looking for the perfect place for a rendezvous with your girlfriends, be it lunch, a sundowner or a relaxed evening of lounging around, then you have to book a table at Sunset Story right now! The place has beautiful ambience, fantastic service, delectable food and the perfect drinks to accompany the chit-chat and fun gossip… and tons of photo opportunities to boot!
We were recently there for a lunch and what an experience it was with lovely cocktails created by their mixologist – Deepak Sharma – and some lip smacking food by Chef Anurudh Khanna and Chef Dishant Baria.
After the mandatory photo sessions by all of us attending the lunch, we hung around the bar for a bit as our drinks were customized to our preference and palette. We chose a Pornstar Martini, a Mojito with a twist and a Berrilicious. Each drink had unique flavours and packed a punch.
And then it was time for taste bud tingling fare…
We started with a Tiranga Murgh Tikka which was tender chunks of chicken marinated in three different flavours – mint, bedgi chillies, and creamy cheese. The tikka was the perfect accompaniment to the chilled drinks with tangy flavours that could be distinctly felt.
The Rajma ki Gilawat was melt-in-the-mouth kidney bean kebabs served on ulte tawe ka parantha. The smokiness of the cloves really stood out and we could barely make out that these were actually vegetarian… they tasted so close to mutton galawati kebabs.
Then came the Achari Mushroom which was three different types of meaty mushrooms including porto bellos, marinated with fennel seeds, cooked in the tandoor and served on a cute grill! I found it hard to stop at one!
The Bagichey ki Tikki, we were told, was made of 7 kinds of fresh green leaves mustard, amaranth, spinach, dil, mint, coriander, and fenugreek – all pounded together to make the kebabs. The real surprise was that these were stuffed with a cheesy filling which added to the softness and flavour of the dish!
A side of a trio of Chutneys, pineapple-coriander-tomato, accompanied the starters and each one was bursting with flavours. Loved the pineapple chutney the most as it was sweet, sour, tangy… all at the same time! The first serving literally disappeared in seconds and we had to ask for more which was served instantly.
Then it was time for the most irresistible dish of the meal! The Mutton Pepper Fry Boti was hands down the best dish of the meal for me. The preparation was just mind-blowingly good… soft, juicy chunks of meat cooked to perfection with a lot of pepper and a hint of red chilli shining through. I could have been done with my whole meal with just that!
For the main course, since we were already so full with the yummy appetizers, we decided to keep it simple and went for the Wok combos. The Spicy Mapu Tofu, served with vegetable fried rice and the Kung Pao Chicken, serves with hakka style vegetable noodles – both the dishes were superbly made and were polished off in a jiffy!
We rounded off the meal with a Gulab Jamun Cheesecake… an absolutely delightful assault on the taste buds! It was a soft, heavenly preparation with just the right amount of sweetness. Most definitely one of the best versions of this dish that I have ever had!
I simply cannot wait to go there again… this time in the evening, under the starlit sky, the perfect weather… and to try out some more of the fabulous dishes from the elaborate menu! Would be an amazing evening for sure! So, what are you waiting for… see you there soon .
