So I never leave an opportunity to bond with my loved ones over a hot cup of tea who say I am a self-proclaimed “Teaaholic”.
For me, a good cup of tea is just an excuse to share good times with great minds.
With the decline in the number of covid cases the best resort is to meet in an open cafe and if it serves two of your favourite indulgence Chai and Maggi you are in gastronomical heaven…So I came upon this newly opened Cafe in Gurgaon’s Sushant Lok area called ‘Pehle Chai“.
Yes, you read it right the name does complete justice to itself. It serves 8 varieties of tea with different condiments like adrak,tulsi,masala, elaichi etc. But the queen of all the tea varieties was their special Gur-Kesar wali Chai served in kulhad. It was just what was needed to get the brains working in the chilly winter mornings.It is so refreshing and perfect you will definitely want a repeat…
The small cozy cafe is owned by Mrs.Sanjana Mohan who also owns the famous 21 Gun Salute Restaurant in sec 29 Gurgaon.
Pehle Chai also serves a variety of snacks. To begin with the Jodhpuri pyaaz ki kachori with kadhi served in kulhad, mirchi vada,papdi chaat and ‘baarish wale pakode’ were a perfect combination with a hot cup of tea. Not to miss the diet-conscious taste buds they even serve poha,sprouts and kala chana coupled with an immunity booster mug of tea loaded with the goodness of raw turmeric,giloy, fennel and ginger.
Being a die-hard Maggi lover for me this place has become my new ‘adda’ for Maggi with my tribe of Maggi friends . The best being their tadke wali maggi,a flavorful synergy of garlic,tomatoes and fried onions served in earthy round kulhad…now you don’t need to look forward to hill stations or road trips to satisfy your cravings for this comfort “2 -minute” wonder. My love affair with Maggi now has a new address. “Pehle Chai”.
And how it is said all good things should end up on a sweet note we drained the last drops of tea from our kulhads with crisp thin jalebis, the taste still lingering on my tongue as I write this article transporting me back to the amazing experience at this cozy and cool cafe called Pehle Chai.
