L’Angoor as the name itself suggests is a quaint and charming restaurant in the busy business hub of Gurgaon. Closer to Mehrauli and a little way off M.G.Road this is at the Global Business Park.
As we enter the lovely setting beckons us to the strains of old time Broadway music. Comfortable and elegant seating with accents on their exclusive wines add to the warmth.
Embracing the modern age L’Angoor the name is coined as a mix of French and Hindi. Literally translated it means “The Grapes”.The wine lounge is a brainchild of the Indigo family and boasts an enviable collection of wines. The menu is displayed on and I-Pad which takes the visual element to a whole new level. It also gives clarity to what the diner needs. L’angoor is fine dining at its best. Each dish is presented as epicurean delight. True gourmets will love the plating techniques and the presentation.
It was a colleague’s birthday when we went for our review and in a most touching and flamboyant gesture we were served fine champagne to toast the birthday girl.
What a fabulous way to begin a meal.
As soon as we settled down a sectioned platter was placed on the table containing Wasabi nuts, Cashew nuts and a piquant mustard dip with fresh veggies.
We were next served freshly baked bread with butter coins.
For starters we are served the following :
Vegetarian :
Watermelon and Feta Salad
The vibrancy of this dish comes from its fresh and bright look. The crunch of the sweet watermelon with the tangy feta cheese is pure delight.
Greek Salad
A generous salad with different lettuces, and abundance of olives and a light dressing.
Potato Barrels stuffed with cottage cheese
Hollowed out tubes of potato filled with a creamy cottage cheese mixture. This appetizer was presented in the most stylish way.
Garlic toast with remoulade sauce
Slender buttery toasts with subtle hints of garlic and other herbs served with a beautiful dipping sauce.
Non-Vegetarian
L’Angoor Chicken
Chicken tidbits tossed in a sticky ,flavorful sauce with notes of mustard and cabernet wine.
Crispy Calamari
Rings of squid fried to perfection in a crunchy batter. A perfect accompaniment to drinks and wine.
Jerk Chicken
A chicken with Caribbean spices to tingle your taste buds.
Our Main course was served with equal style and aplomb.
Vegetarian Cannelloni | Grilled Snapper |
Prawns Newburg |
We tried the Vegetarian cannelloni: generous portions of pasta stuffed with vegetables in a rich tomato and cream sauce.
We also had grilled Snapper served on a bed of vegetables. The fish was cooked to perfection and was as fresh as dew.
Last but not least were the prawns Newburg. Grilled prawns atop succulent pasta this dish is highly recommended. The prawns were succulent and the pasta was flavorful.
For dessert as a most caring gesture we were served a brownie birthday cake. A trio of freshly made in house ice creams were also served.
Rum N raisin : L’Angoor has re-invented this old time flavor in a fresh new avatar.
Kaffir Lime : Thai aromas’ lend itself wonderfully to this ice cream.
The winner amongst all these was the Paan ice cream. It actually had minuscule flakes of betel leaves and all the makings of a meetha paan. Brilliantly done.
The perfect ending to a perfect meal.
L’Angoor is a great venue to host a formal dinner for foodies.Couples would really find it an excellent place to unwind especially in the wine lounge.
