Khaled Hosseini is a brilliant author. I was hooked from the first few pages. His characterization is vivid and his storytelling skills are par excellence!! This is a story of love and how it has the power to affect lives over many generations. It teaches us deep gratitude for the simplest things we have. Hosseini has this ability to tell stories like none other. For days after reading this I had the characters in my mind. 
 
Yes Afghani references are many, but not as heart wrenching as his other books.
